Mental health isn’t just about mental illness. Just like physical health, there is psychological health. You might also call this emotional health or resilience – either way, this is what everyday mental health is all about. One thing that eats away at our psychological health is chronic stress. This comes in a million forms, from disrupted digestion, to muscle tightness, to irritability.
The plain fact is that most of us are far more stressed than we realise. As time goes on, when stress sits in our mind-body system, we start to adapt. Feeling tense or ‘off’ becomes normal. Humans are amazingly adaptable creatures.
It’s only when we take time to release, to let go, to feel safe, that we start to realise how much better we can feel.
Join me in the video above to celebrate Mental / Psychological / Emotional Health Week by exploring the experience of releasing, even if just for five minutes. Or join me on 22 May for Deep Rest Friday, in person at my Studio in Reading or online. The Studio is also hosting a range of Mental Health Week events.
Wishing you a sense of space and calm,
Ann-Marie
